The annual meeting of the executive committee of the "Good governance for local development in the South Caucasus" project took place
On February 29, 2024 the annual Steering Committee meeting of the Good Governance for Local Development, South Caucasus Programme was held in GIZ Armenia office.
The Programme is implemented by GIZ and financed by the governments of Germany and Switzerland. The main political partner of the Programme is the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure (MTAI).
The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of TAI Vache Terteryan, Deputy Regional Director of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) Werner Thut, Head of Development Cooperation at the German Embassy Katrin Buder-Pelz, as well as representatives of MTAI, SDC and GIZ. During the session, the achievements in the period of 2019-2023 were presented in the following areas: territorial and administrative reform and decentralisation, effective and accessible services in municipalities, promotion of local economic development, women empowerment and citizen participation in decision-making processes at local level.
The comprehensive support of the Programme to the strengthening of institutional, technical and human capacities in the mentioned areas in all the consolidated municipalities of Armenia was emphasized. The participants also discussed 2024-2025 vision of the Programme implementation both in the above-mentioned as well as other areas, with particular emphasis on support to forcibly displaced population from Artsakh and the host communities.
