MMIS wins “The best regional municipal eSolution award” in Georgian IT Innovation Award 2016


The Municipal Management Information System (MMIS) of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Development of the Republic of Armenia won an award in the nomination “The best regional municipal eSolution” in the 9th Regional Georgian Cyber Security and ICT Innovation Conference & Georgian Innovation award 2016 held in Tbilisi on November 10-11, 2016.
The delegation representing MMIS was composed of representatives of the RA Ministry of Territorial Administration and Development (MTAD), Information Systems Development and Training Center (ISDTC) NGO and the GIZ “Local Governance Programme South Caucasus”.

MMIS is a unified data management and information system particularly developed for local self-government bodies. It consists of numerous management and administration subsystems, registers, information resources, e-services components, and internal and external communication tools. As a web-based system MMIS also provides the operation of the official websites of the municipalities and offers various online participation mechanisms.

The system is developed and maintained by the ISDTC. The “Local Governance Programme South Caucasus” implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development continually supports the development, upgrade and expansion of the system in Armenian municipalities. The Programme is implemented in partnership with the MTAD and is co-financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

GITI is an annual conference in the field of IT and Cyber Security aiming to promote competitiveness, innovation, security as well as effective partnership among public and private sectors, IT-related organisations in the Central and Baltic States, Caucasus and Middle Asia region. The 9th annual event was organized by the ICT Business Council of Georgia, and the LEPL Data exchange Agency of Ministry of Justice of Georgia. The purpose of this year’s conference was to reflect the significance of information technology in terms of creating an engine of growth for socio-economic development of Region; network with stakeholders and build awareness regarding IT and Cyber Security importance among high-level governmental officials, private sector representatives and the society at large.
